No Meat – Initial thoughts

Initial thoughts: no sweat, I don’t eat that much meat anyways

I’ve never been a full vegetarian before and if left to my own devices my diet is usually about 80% veggies and 20% meat.  I tend to eat meat when only when it’s more convenient or if I have a monster craving for some skunky taco truck tacos.  Don’t get me wrong, I love dirty tacos al pastor that are hot enough to melt a hole through your digestive track but I’ve seen some of the peta videos on meat and am generally grossed out by the whole meat industry.  It would be one thing if all the meat we ate was raised on a farm but as it is the meat we eat come from animals who live in squalor, are fed ‘food’ that they would never eat in nature and are so sick and pumped full of hormones that it really makes me wonder if we should be having such a meat centric diet.  My heart tells me this, try not to eat very much meat but if you do, eat meat from a good source and even if it’s not from a good source, enjoy it; something had to die for your sustenance.  To sum up my beliefs on meat in one word I would call it this: lazytarian.

This month, I will convert from a lazytarian to a full vegetarian who sometimes partakes in seafood (also known as a pescetarian).  I suppose I could give up that too but a little bit of shrimp here and there doesn’t really count anyways right? :-)
